About

Ok, so why are there three Poemasabis?

In 2005 I began a poetry blog which, over time, was renamed and re-purposed as Poemasabi. It was done so that I could have a place to experiment with poem forms being taught in the k-2 school where I work. The teachers could see and provide feedback and I would have the chance to experience what we were going to be working on in the classroom before I got there.

That led to the spin-off Poemasabi Jr. where we have published six short of 200 poems by 1st and 2nd graders over two years.

It was all going well until I discovered Billy Collins and Philip Appleton. Mr. Collins, a US Poet Laureate, broke me free of form in ways I could not have imagined prior to my discovering him. Mr Appleton took what I had seen in Billy Collins and gave it far deeper and more personal meaning.

That being said, I needed a place unattached but yet still related where I could deal with subjects that may be taken by some as inappropriate  for my younger viewers. So welcome to Poemasabi All Grown Up.
